Hello there! Welcome to the combined blog for beyourself and The Giving Tree. Here you will find frequent updates on what’s happening in-stores, special promotions, and various items of inspiration.
OUR STORY
beyourself was established in April 2005 in Omaha, Nebraska by two sisters: Jennie O’Dell and Kim Vasey. Our mission is make every woman feel beautiful in her own skin. In attempts to promote self-esteem, we’ve eliminated the traditional numbered sizing and follow a color-dot sizing system instead. We feel this allows you to focus more on how you fit and feel in something, while also creating size consistency.
Two years later, the beyourself team was ready to spread their wings. So, we opened a sister-store: The Giving Tree! Continuing the goal to promote self-esteem, The Giving Tree follows the same color-dot sizing policy. We also added another mission: to give more than we receive. Every month, customers vote for a local non-profit organization that we donate 25% of our profits to.
In October 2010, we were ready to grow a little bit more: we opened another beyourself location in Lincoln, Nebraska! Teaming up with manager/co-owner Lindsey Bellows, our Lincoln location features most of the same merchandise as our Omaha store, with some special pieces just for Lincoln shoppers as well!
WHAT CAN I FIND IN-STORES?
We feature a wide variety of clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and other accessories that you won’t find anywhere else in the area. We also buy in very small quantities and receive new shipment every single day so you’ll always find something different and unique. Additionally, The Giving Tree features a “buy-sell-trade” program allowing you to sell us your “lightly-loved” clothing, shoes, and accessories in exchange for cash or store credit. We hope you find our stores inviting for all: no matter what your style, age, size, etc…always beyourself!

We no longer offer an online store. However, we gladly accept orders over the phone! Check out the photo albums on our facebook pages. We update what’s “on the racks” every Thursday evening. (We will soon be adding this feature to the blog as well). If you see something you like, simply call the store. We can answer any questions for you and place a phone order….then ship it to you!

Thanks for the feedback! Since this is a new promotion, we are still evaluating it. We’re considering adding college students, as well as some other options for separate college promotions. We’ll be sure to keep you updated!

My name is Haile Kucera, I am an event planner for Fast Forward, LLC., which is a non-profit that specializes in helping the disabled of Omaha, by various physical therapy workouts. Fast Forward is owned by Daryl Kucera, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2001, and used this disease as a positive way to help the community.
Throughout the year, we do various fundraisers that highlight the amazing businesses in our community. Next year, 2012, we are reaching outside of your average fundraiser and conducting the first annual “A Walk To Remember Fashion Show.” Our goal is to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis, and other diseases, while showing off what Omaha has to offer.
We are asking different companies around the metro area to donate their services to benefit this amazing fundraiser, while being allowed to receive free publicity. While we were on the search for Omaha businesses we think would be great, we asked around, and decided that Be Yourself. We ask that you would be able to donate clothing or accessories to this amazing opportunity. In addition to our request, we will provide you with free promotions of Be Yourself. That includes, Be Yourself cards, brochures, and the Be Yourself logo and contact information on a slideshow that will play throughout the entire show. We will not charge you for this.
We have been showed many companies in the metro area and have decided we would like to use your services for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Hopefully you will take this wonderful opportunity and showcase your talents in a unique and memorable way!
